Blues will be without Mikael Forssell for up to three weeks after the Finnish international strained his thigh muscle in training this week.

‘Mikael Forssell has hurt his thigh in training on Wednesday so he’s probably out for two or three weeks with a strain,’ said Blues boss Steve Bruce.

‘It’s Sods Law that these things happen and obviously it’s a problem, but what can you do?

‘David Dunn is okay though because he’s been training and working extremely hard, as have Damien Johnson and Stephen Clemence .

‘With Dunny available it gives me options at the front, because we’ve also got Jarosik who can play up there as well.’

Blues have supposedly failed in a bid for Marseille’s Abdoulaye Meite(WHO??) Sky Sports report.

Both Bolton and Newcastle made efforts to land him in the summer of 2004, before Liverpool showed an interest this year.

Birmingham apparently agree terms for a January swoop with Marseille – but Meite himself shunned the move to St Andrews.
