Why Not Have A Non-League Day?

Saturday 4th September is Non-League Day and many Non-League Clubs across the country are looking forward to welcoming fans of the Premier League and Championship, who have a day off due to International Friendlies.

Halesowen Town are one of the many clubs who are hoping to attract local supporters and Season Tickets holders of clubs in the top two tiers of League football.

Halesowen Town, known to their fans as ‘The Yeltz` have had a unbeaten start to the campaign and having just missed out on the Play-Offs to the Conference South last term the club is hoping to have another brilliant season at The Grove.

Owner Graham Ingram is hoping the day will attract new fans through the gate, he said ‘We are at home on Non-League Day, we are playing Hemel Hempstead and I am sure it will be a competitive game, I genuinely believe that anyone who joins us from the top flight clubs will enjoy their day and hopefully consider coming down to watch us again, possibly when their team is away from home.’

New Technical Director Phil Nardiello formerly England Schools U18 Manager sent out a message to potential new fans, ‘Come and savour a good old fashioned game of English football at Halesowen Town Football Club, the more we have getting behind the team the more we will try to ensure we put on a show for new spectators. Obviously the fans can play a huge part in making this a successful season for us’.

One fan recently swapped the football league for the non-league this summer, he explained, ‘For me the Premier League is all about money, and over the last few years I have found it increasingly harder to relate to those players, I have been following Halesowen Town since July and I am enjoying every minute. I had a season ticket at one of the bigger local clubs, and although I will still go from time to time, I now have the non-league bug. It`s good honest football at this level, the players mingle with the fans after the game and perhaps most importantly there`s no diving!’
