Lee Clark has confirmed Birmingham may not look for another winger following the performances of Demarai Gray and Kobi Aurther.

“If they continue in the form they are in, there`s no need for me to bring in another winger, unless they are really, really exceptional and experienced, which, to be honest, I don`t think will happen.”

Clark said it is important to give the young lads experience and confidence that goes along with being in the first team. The manager was very impressed with Gray having been informed about his progress when they returned from Ireland (Gray did not travel).

“He is throwing down the gauntlet to me, really, to try and get picked for the first game. Without a doubt, it`s what you want, the young lads pushing the more established players.”

Blues Boss Clark also has been impressed with Reece Brown who continues to be involved with the team.

He continued by saying its nice to have players that are his own, who know what he is about and don`t require a settling period when coming into the team.

“Hopefully Dimmy and Koby, Reece and Charlee continue as they have been pre-season and then they are in and around the group come Middlesbrough”

It would seem Blues youngsters are stepping it up in order to make the first team and they wouldn`t be the first to do it, with players like Jordan Mutch, Jack Butland and Nathan Redmond all successful Blues graduates.
