Where Do You Stand On Lee Clark?

When trying to estimate fan support and distaste for manager Lee Clark, it has to be said, it is not easy for us in the media.

Recently the anti-Clark section of supporters complained they were not being heard, deliberately ignored by the mainstream media outlets.

It became clear they felt they were the elephant in the room that no one close to the club wanted to talk about. But is that the case? is there a large outcry for Lee Clark to leave Birmingham, or be sacked?

Following another disappointing week of football, two weeks ago saw a twitter trend of ‘clark out’. Whilst to achieve that, there would of had to of been large discussion about the topic, it is not in itself indicative of what each tweet was saying.

Many tweeting with the required tag may well have been defending Clark. What the trend indicates is that it was a topic of considerable discussion.

What we know is that home form has been next to unbelievable and last season the team couldn’t actually compete at this level. Losing goals quickly and easily was the in fashion trend. The team was full on young loanee’s that simply did not want to play.

There are a few things we have to go on that suggest that the Clark Out Camp actually do not represent the majority of Birmingham City fans. That is to say that over half of supporters do not wish for him to be sacked, it is not intended to mean that the Clark Out fans are not of recognizable size.

Match day result votes on our site quite often seem to be in favor of the side, believing the team will be able to win the next game. This suggests that enough fans on this site still feel the team are positive enough to press on and win games, with Clark in charge.

Additionally, the fans I have time to speak to feel he has had a very difficult job to do. A next to nothing budget that resulted in some successful loan signings. Those signings were then taken away and then began the real downturn for the club in terms of hopeless results.

Those same fans recognize he has learnt from those mistakes and this season will decide on whether he has been able to build a team good enough for this level. But again, the budget has not changed and the squad is thin on the ground when injuries set in.

It is no secret Blues have some defensive issues at present, but it could be said that it is that position where Birmingham have been hit hardest and longest.

There is plenty up for debate on both sides of the argument. But for the moment it would appear that more people support the team and manager than oppose him. With that said, only time will tell which side is right. What we do know is the Out Camp are louder, but are they larger?
