‘When it rains, it pours’ – Many Birmingham Fans Left Very Disappointed By Reported Injury Setback

|

Isaac Vassell has suffered an injury setback, according to BBC WM Radio reporter Richard Wilford.

At the time of writing, the report hasn’t been confirmed by the club or manager Garry Monk, but if the news is indeed true, it would be a massive setback. Wilford tweeted:

Our lack of goals this campaign is well documented and many fans were hoping the 24-year-old’s return would help improve things, but the reaction on Twitter was understandably very negative:

There has been no confirmation as to how long Vassell will be out for. Serious knee injuries can have many complications, but his recovery seemed to be going very well.

It was only last week that Monk confirmed that our no.11 was expecting to return after the international break, playing minutes for the under 23s before a first-team comeback. That timescale now looks to be highly doubtful.

If the news is a bad as some fear, it would surely press us into making our final signing of the summer to be another striker.
