Birmingham City put their cards on the table this week by bringing in much coveted signing Tomasz Kuszczak. The Poland born international has a whole wealth of experience not only at Premier League level but within the Championship as well.

His first spell in England came with West Brom, he signed for free in 2004. He went on to make 30 league appearances and was quite frankly a brilliant keeper during his time there.

It wasn’t long before Manchester United came calling, firstly on loan and then they signed him permanently. The stopper continued to impress despite being second choice at Old Trafford, whenever asked to deputise for Edwin dan der Sar he was very good for the Red Devils.

Following his United exit, he went on loan for the back of the 2011/12 season to Watford, making 13 appearances for them during the run in, although he did not remain at the club.

Tomasz Kuszczak then joined Brighton in 2012 and went on to make 84 league appearances in goal, twice making it to the play offs with them.

And now, after a short spell with Wolves he has opted to sign for Birmingham City, despite being offered a one year extension at the Monlinuex.

An experienced keeper, that when ever he has been made no 1 at a club he has flourished and indeed at United he performed well despite playing second fiddle to an almost ever present in Edwin van der Sar.

I for one feel we have a very good signing in the Krosno Odrzanskie born goalkeeper and can’t wait to see him play.

What do you think of Kuszczak?
