Luke Turner talks of the importance of David Cotterill in the team…

David Cotterill`s season was very stop start due to niggling injuries which only saw him really hit form over the last couple of months of the season.

He may have only made 24 starts but he still managed to contribute four goals and six assists which shows how important he is to us.

I agree that sometimes he can be frustrating but he is the sort of player who can produce something out of nothing and, when in full flow, can be a very good player.

A lot of Blues fans seem to underrate his value to us but, without him in the side, we are clearly a poorer team. If he was fit throughout the whole season, then it only would only have enhanced our chances of reaching the play-offs.

His form towards the back end of last season was phenomenal and he was involved in six of Blues` last 10 goals of the season.

It was clear that he was looking to impress the Wales manager Chris Coleman in hope that he would make their Euro 2016 squad.

He is currently in the provisional squad away training with them and I really hope that he makes the final cut for the Championships.

If he can have a successful and injury-free summer, it will stand him in good stead to kick on and help lead us to bigger and better things.
