Birmingham City lost 4-2 to arch-rivals Aston Villa on Saturday, turning the stats book on its head as the Blues have gone from just one defeat in 13 matches to three games without a win.
Garry Monk’s side took the lead at Villa Park and looked to be in control during the opening periods of the game, only to see things fall apart just before the break as two goals in two minutes saw the hosts take the lead.
It got worse six minutes after the restart when Tammy Abraham scored from the spot and, despite Kristian Pedersen pulling one back shortly after, the loss was confirmed after Alan Hutton’s goal 14 minutes before the final whistle.
Despite the defeat, many fans on social media had a positive outlook when assessing the game and reacted well to Garry Monk’st post-match comments, where he stated his side need to show more toughness in the crucial fixtures that lie ahead.
We have gathered some of the responses to his comments below.

4-2 flatters Villa. We had several opportunities to catch up if not draw. We will be back….

Garry where we have lost out is due to FFP so no strength in depth.
Against Hull – Lakin, Harding an Solomon Otobar were not good enough and against the Vile, Harding was a fault for the crosses for the 1st 2 goals!! Hopefully, Jota, Mags and GG are back for Tuesday.— Bluenose (@beaublue07) November 25, 2018
Problem is the mentality. As soon as we concede the next 10-15 minutes we are an absolute shambles and concede again like we did today, against Forest, and hull just to name a few! Got to sort out the mentality. When you concede the next 10-15 minutes are key.

We must manage our expectations following two seasons of relegation battles. That said, we are performing well but our defenders have no confidence in Camp. I know they must defend better but you do need your keeper to at least make some saves. Need to Change it up Monk.

Three games on the bounce, we’ve looked absolutely horrendous at the back. Things need to change. Next three games are must win. Do it.

Under the circumstances GM is doing a top job. When FFP points deduction happens, staying in the league with the current small squad of players will be success. KRO
