‘We will be back’: Some Birmingham fans react positively to Monk’s post-match comments

|

Birmingham City lost 4-2 to arch-rivals Aston Villa on Saturday, turning the stats book on its head as the Blues have gone from just one defeat in 13 matches to three games without a win.

Garry Monk’s side took the lead at Villa Park and looked to be in control during the opening periods of the game, only to see things fall apart just before the break as two goals in two minutes saw the hosts take the lead.

It got worse six minutes after the restart when Tammy Abraham scored from the spot and, despite Kristian Pedersen pulling one back shortly after, the loss was confirmed after Alan Hutton’s goal 14 minutes before the final whistle.

Despite the defeat, many fans on social media had a positive outlook when assessing the game and reacted well to Garry Monk’st post-match comments, where he stated his side need to show more toughness in the crucial fixtures that lie ahead.

We have gathered some of the responses to his comments below.
