Hopefully the walking wounded at St Andrews were made to sit and watch today’s excellent showing. While the ten or so stars with injuries show no inclination to get back in the fray and bite the bullet what’s left of Bruce’s scratch squad denied the Premiership Champions.

Restored to right back in place of Melchiot,
Oliver Tebily showed what every Blues fan has been longing to see for 18 months. Not Since Robbie Savage left has any player in a Blue shirt showed half of the determination as the Ivory coast international today. He over powered Duff and when Robben came over to try his luck he got similar short shrift.

Oli powered forward time and time sending in crossses, the first of which Campbell laid in the path of Heskey who blazed over.

Heskey could have had a hat trick in the first half but sadly his opportunism is still way behind his effort.

Tebily surged forward on 25 minutes and unleased a left foot pile driver which brought a world class save out of Chelsea’s polished keeper.

Blues will be well pleased with an unexpected point but will curse their luck as Pompey managed to get another favour out of Harry’s London chums with an impressive 3-1 win at Fulham.

Steve Bruce said; ‘that the players owed the fans a performance’. Well good as today may have been the debt is still unpaid. While those on the pitch today can hold their head up for a couple of days Tuesday is pay back time again. Bolton must be beaten. Pompey are on a role and for the Blues to stay up they will need to catch atleast one more team in the division.

38 points at least will be the cut off mark. 38 38 38 . Readers conmmit that to memory. You heard it here first
