We Need Experience – Just 12% Of Birmingham Fans Polled Back 22 Year Old To Keep His First Team Place

|

Following Connal Trueman’s performance against Middlesbrough at the weekend, a fan asked David Stockdale whether he’d be prepared to come back into the first team fold if Garry Monk changed his mind about the keeper.

Our no.13 replied by saying he’d be “1 million percent” prepared to make a comeback if asked. However, it looks as though that the manager will opt for Lee Camp to play against Reading tonight, with a first-team place up for grabs for Friday’s league encounter versus Swansea.

I asked fans whether we should keep faith with Trueman, try Camp or look to bring back Stockdale, and the vast majority want the ex Brighton keeper back in goal:

My feeling is that Monk won’t be looking to give our former number one another chance. It seems, for the time being at least, that he will use the two keepers currently in his plans.

Camp will get his opportunity against Reading, and if he takes it, there is a big possibility that he’ll keep his place against the Swans. Although Trueman has been praised by the manager, the 22-year-old’s lack of experience was shown up in the Boro defeat, and that may count against him in his battle to keep the no.1 jersey.
