‘We have it in our own hands’ – Birmingham Fans Keen To Avoid Nervy End To Season

|

Garry Monk has warned his players against complacency as the season reaches its climax. With the club five points above the relegation zone with two games to go, we are in a good position.

However, the manager told the club’s official website that he is keen to avoid any last day drama:

“The aim is to try and pick up three points and avoid that. If we get the right result at the weekend we don’t have to face that final game.”

“We’re aware of that but we’re not focused on that. It’s dangerous if you start relaxing and thinking ‘We have two games now to maybe get it done.”

On Twitter, fans were quick to echo the gaffer’s sentiments, although some were still nervous about securing safety:

Verdict:

An away trip to QPR is a good opportunity to make sure we are mathematically safe, leaving us with the chance to celebrate the team’s efforts with a sold-out final home game of the season against Fulham.

Ian Holloway’s side have nothing to play for and have even allowed star midfielder Massimo Luongo a break so he can prepare for World Cup finals with Australia.

If we turn up with a positive mindset and go out to take the game to our opponents, we have a good chance of getting the three points.
