Cheikh N’Doye has been named in Senegal’s final 23 man squad for the World Cup in Russia.
The 32-year-old will become the first Blues player to appear at the tournament since Stan Lazaridis played for Australia in 2006.
On Twitter, many fans congratulated Cheikh, although others were surprised he was given the nod by Aliou Cisse:
When N'Doye scores on over head kick from 30 yards against England, we better not sell him to Real Madrid for any money

Jesus they must be desperate

How? Must be a shallow talent pool in Senegal.

The problem is people don't understand what Ndoye is about. Agree 100% his passing has been off. But he breaks things 1/2

Verdict:
Our no.17 only made his international debut at the age of 28, but in the last four years, he has been a regular squad member for his national side.
It is true he has had an up and down season with us since joining on a free transfer in the summer, but for Senegal, he has been used regularly during World Cup qualification, as well as last year’s African Cup of Nations.
I’m sure I will not be the only Blues fans wanting to wish him good luck in Russia. His country’s group of Poland, Colombia and Japan looks a pretty good draw to get so the midfielder could yet get through to the last 16.
