We are staying up!

What an end to the season. That was the most tense, nerve wracking game I’ve ever witnessed but Harry Redknapp`s Blues pulled through and we are staying up!

Last time it was Paul Caddis The Saviour, this time the title goes to Che Adams. We were put through 90+ minutes of torture yesterday and I swear I’ve never seen a clock move so slow.

The fact that both Blackburn and Nottingham Forest won their games meant that Blues had to hold onto their lead and take all three points themselves.

A Bristol City goal would relegate us.

It was another dogged performance from the team. It certainly wasn’t pretty but I think it was the only way the job was going to be done.

The relief when the referee blew that final whistle was there for all to see and the scenes in that away end epitomised Blues.

It’s been a tough season for us fans but we kept right on and, in the end, prevented what Gianfranco Zola almost caused.

This team isn’t a team that should’ve been in that position. Yesterday they showed the resilience and team spirit that we know they possess and that had been lost under Zola.

It’s no coincidence that as soon as Michael Morrison came back into the side, Blues kept two clean sheets. He was a rock at the back yesterday alongside Ryan Shotton and his return was just in the nick of time.

Blues needed leaders at this crucial stage of the season and he led by example. This was the Blues that we all know and love. We know they have it in them and they proved it yesterday under all of that pressure.

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that Harry should be given the job full time. In just three games he’s captured the hearts of Blues fans and there’s already a relationship between the two that can develop.

He knows what sort of club Blues are, he understands us. He’s taken us from the drop and he`ll take us to the top, I honestly believe that and so do the rest of the Blues fans that were chanting that yesterday.

It’s going to be one hell of a summer ahead for us over the next few months but what’s crucial is that we can look ahead to a season in the Championship and not League One.

The warning signs are there for the owners. They know that a huge mistake was made when Zola was brought in and it so very nearly cost us big time.

It’s now time to get things sorted properly and start planning for next season where hopefully we will be enjoying a campaign at the right end of the table.

But, this is Blues and it’s never an easy ride. We look forward to whatever the future holds but, for now, enjoy the fact that we are safe and?
