Lloyd Dyer will remain at Watford for the coming season, in a bid to play Premier League football one last time in his aging career.

Dyer failed to make an impact whilst on loan at Birmingham, the winger was brought in on loan to add something different to the inside forward nature of Demarai Gray on the wide left. Instead Dyer would offer width, something that didn’t really come off until the end of his time here.

Watford allowed the player to go out on loan after he made just 4 appearances for their various managers throughout the season. Now Quinque Sanchez Flores has taken the Watford job, Dyer has a chance to start fresh.

The wide-man not returning to Birmingham is unlikely to come as a surprise. Rowett had not really mentioned much about Dyer since he returned to his club, although it was understood that if a deal could be done, it would have been.

In terms of fan reaction; given that Dyer failed to produce during his time here, it is doubtful that it will have much effect on the feeling at St Andrews.

Birmingham are clearly on the look out for a winger now this avenue is well and truly closed. Reports suggesting that Paul Anderson (Ipswich) will be coming here instead.

I for one am very interested to see the kind of players that come in this summer. The board seem to be ready to back Rowett after he more than proved his worth last season. Having worked all summer sourcing the players he would like here, I’m expecting some tactical signings.
