Birmingham City have announced the loan signing of Rotherham United defender Greg Halford until January.

The versatile Millers man, who can also play in midfield and upfront, has joined Gary Rowett’s men on a short term loan deal, on the same day that Blues secured the services of Huddersfield Town forward James Vaughan.

Halford has only played five times so far this season and the move to Blues signals his intention to continue his career.

It is expected that the 30 year old will join the Blues squad that travels down to second placed Brighton and Hove Albion, but whether he makes his bow is yet to be confirmed.

In his time as a footballer, Halford has played for the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth, during which he has enjoyed some of his most successful spells.

With Paul Robinson being declared injured for the next month, the loan signing of Halford ensures that Blues have extra defensive cover should anything happen to the likes of Michael Morrison, Jonathan Spector and Shane Lowry.

Blues fans, what do you make of this second loan signing? Is it a good one for us? Where does he fit into our side? Let us know in the comment section down below!
