Birmingham manager Lee Clark was full of praise for his two goal hero Lee Novak after Blues overcame Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Sunday.

Novak hit a brace as City ran out 3-2 winners and stretched their unbeaten run to nine games as well as picking up three valuable points on a ground where they have not won since 1968.

Novak showed his versatility by knocking in the first from close range before firing in the second from 30 yards out, Chris Burke grabbed a third after a poor clearance from Simon Eastwood.

Rovers fought back in the second half with two goals from Jordan Rhodes but City hung on for the full quota of points.

Clark praised Novak by saying to reporters: ‘You know what I think about him (Novak). He’s an unsung hero.

‘Whatever position I ask him to play in, he runs through the proverbial brick wall and what I’m happy with now is in the last few weeks he’s getting the goals his performances deserve.

‘A lot of people at the club now, in terms of the supporters and everyone around the club are seeing the value of the player.’

Clark must now prepare his players for the New Year’s Day home clash with Barnsley.
