Birmingham are reportedly about to complete the signings of Tyler Blackett and Tom Thorpe from Manchester United on loan.

It is not yet clear how long the loans are, but I imagine they will be for an initial one month loan with a few to extend them. Blackett has already spent some time on loan at Blackpool this season.

Blackett is a young defender; he has played left back and is highly rated for his attacking abilities. Expect to see this young man getting up those channels. He recently had a good game, almost scoring, with United U21s against Middlesbrough.

Thrope, once of England U17s is another defender who signed his pro deal for united in 2011. He reportedly was the runner up for Man United`s reserves player of the year, if that counts for anything with you. He was also the academy captain whilst at that level. This seems to be his first opportunity to play first team football.

It seems as though reinforcements are to be flooding in from youth teams that Clark will hopefully know enough about. I am hearing some promising things from sources about the majority of these young players; but then again the Championship is a tricky league for young players.
