Two More Signings

Birmingham City manager, Gary Rowett, told us that the club were close on 3 new signings. We have one of them in Tom Kuszczak, but we are still waiting to here who the others might be.

The most interesting thing about the transfers will be where they play. What area of the team does Rowett consider most in need of a quality player or two.

First and foremost, and this is just my opinion, we need a ball winning – box to box midfielder. A role Robert Tesche completely relished whilst on loan here last season. The German really was the difference in turning our midfield two from an engine room into a threat going forward.

If one of the signings due to come in was Robert Tesche, I would be absolutely delighted, as many of the fans would be.

My second area of choice would be a striker, I don’t think signing Zigic really added anything to the squad last year and we really did miss that added tactical plan B to come off the bench. Instead we were swapping formation and bringing Thomas on, which left us high up the pitch and the defenders high and dry – naming no names!

Birmingham may benefit from adding a new player up there that can rival Donaldson whilst still allowing Blues to play from deep and continue their strength from there instead of having to change shape and position.

These are just the two positions I feel are most important, if I were to choose these next two signings. It is perfectly possible that following the permanent signings we will then see some loans come in to pitch in.

So, the important bit – Where do you want to see these signings playing? A winger perhaps? let us know in the comments below.
