Birmingham City have reportedly made a bid of £7.2 million for Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah, according to the media.

The 25-year-old midfielder is believed to have been told that he is free to leave the Italian club and it looks as though Harry Redknapp is set to pounce.

Should Blues be successful with their bid, Acquah would become the clubs record signing, surpassing the £6 million that was previously paid for Nikola Zigic.

The Ghanaian international made 20 appearances for Torino last season in the Serie A, scoring twice.

Blues fans, what do you make of this report? Do you know much about the 25-year-old? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

  • its a nother big mad . its also big money in birmingham terms . would like to see thay money spent on a top striker . We need a proven striker at this levle and that costs big money hpoe there is money left to get a quolity striker in,

  • WOW,this one has taken me by surprise£7.2 million, mind blowing money,a very serious amount of dosh. It’s getting carzy, ridiculous the prices players are attracting these days. Don’t know anything about the player,if it’s a true story,if the offer is genuine and if the parent club is willing to sell and if the player and his agent are happy with it potentially we may have a gem coming to the club. There are too many iff’s,it’s hard to give the story much credit,it’s too early. I just hope if we do capture this player there is serious money left to address the forward line. Sounds positive news however I will hold my reservations until we know more. KRO

  • I’ll believe it when he is standing in front of the kop holding aloft a blues scarf. Still no strikers? Surely that is the position we should be addressing first.
