Birmingham City have reportedly had an 8 million euro bid rejected for Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah.

Ghanasoccernet.com are reporting that Blues have been unsuccessful with their opening bid.

The news of the rejected bid comes just hours after Blues manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that the club were interested in fellow Ghanaian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi.

According to reports in the national press and Redknapp himself, Blues are interested in Onazi and a £4 million fee has already been agreed for the 24-year-old.

Stay tuned to Vital Birmingham for the latest developments on these two deals.

  • I think they are both pretty much the same sort of player and a bit better than what we have already got so I don’t mind, and I don’t think Harry minds either.

  • Striker needed-not this barmy midfielder circus. What’s going on. Harry and sidekick Vetere obsessed with everything but the very thing we need. Just dreading the next game when ‘we just couldn’t get the ball in the net’ -post match report Saturday! Got it written all over it.

  • Call me sceptical but I’m not surprised we have gone for the cheaper option. Still waiting for us to fail personal terms on Onazi or some other reason for deal to fall through. Still time but the lack of forward options is alarming.

  • Let us hope today brings some good news of a proper signing of a striker. Tomorrow’s game must not disappoint at the expense of lack of strikers. We know Jukey is out again and our hopes on Donaldson and Adams cannot be supported by the likes of Brock-Madsen should we get an injury. On the imminent transferfront,I am rapidly believing that we are dodging a lot at the last minute similar to the John Terry saga. Purely on wages. Not wishing to enlarge on this, but with TTA no longer wishing to commit large funds(imo) due to new owners coming in. Perhaps it will be next transfer window when it really takes off. However,as stated let’s hope Harry gets a match winner in today.
