Birmingham City have had a ?7.5m bid for Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah rejected, according to toronews.com.

Despite everything looking in place for the 25-year-old to move to St. Andrew’s earlier in the week, the Serie A side have changed the goalposts and are now playing hardball.

A shortage of players in the Torino midfield mean that the deal is currently stalling, at the request of manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.

However, it is still our understanding that Acquah could still join Blues if Torino get replacements in.

The player wants the move and Harry Redknapp is still confident that a deal can be reached.

  • Well what a surprise for another top target’s signing to be floundering again at the last hurdle,IF the parent club can get in an addition,IF the deal looks very close will this be another Badu situation with the player giving his word and signing for someone else the next day.
He looks a very good player, would bring a talent that we don’t already have, time is ticking and I seriously worry this signing is in serious jeopardy now.I suspect this is Redknapp’s No1 target, there is little to almost no time now to go looking in another direction so we will have just to wait and hope.

  • The story changes again it is now blues that’s holding the deal up ..I think somebody is having a laugh …..

  • I would prefer that Blues look at bringing in Joe Ledley, who is still available as a free agent, as a defensive midfielder with Stewart Downing as the central midfielder behind the striker. Experience of UK football counts in the Championship.

  • David Village, have to smile at your remark however yes it’s valid however I seriously doubt that it will be taken into consideration, more likely the asking price will rise as his agent will want a bigger slice of the pie.
