Who’s excited about the Under 23’s this season?

OK don’t all jump up and down at once, calm down everyone.

Well if you’re excited or if you’re not, they got their Premier Development League campaign underway today as they took on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The game finished 1-1, with Odin Bailey scoring the goal for the visitors.

It was a good opportunity for the young guns to get some competitive action under their belts for the first time this season, however Blues fans’ didn’t seem to be all that concerned with who was lining up for them. Their attention pre-game was drawn to who South London side were putting out, with some notable names in their line-up.

However, after putting in such a fine display against a team that contained so many well-known names, Birmingham fans were very impressed with the news. It looks as if there may be a rosy future in the academy, and after Jude Bellingham’s appearance last week against Portsmouth, who knows which youngster is going to be the next one to make an impression in the first team?

  • Went to the U/23 game today and the lads did remarkably well. Didn’t get a look in 1st half but the two centre backs and keeper were outstanding. Bellingham had a quiet game but still showed some class touches especially in a forward role. We still look short of goals,(throughout the club) but these lads will bulk up and get the drive and power required.
Always trying to play out of trouble, occasionally coming unstuck. You can see the DNA that will be the Club’s style and purpose. MUST ADD GOALS to the mixture
