Time up at Blues for former Swansea City defender

Birmingham City trialist Dwight Tiendalli looks to have played his last game for the club on Saturday against Forest Green Rovers after he failed to make either of the two squads ahead of tonight’s double-headed fixture.

Gary Rowett has split the squads evenly ahead of trips to Shrewsbury Town and Walsall this evening, but the former Swansea City defender isn’t in either squad, suggesting that the club have made up their minds on what they want to do with him.

Last week, I was told on good authority that the club wouldn’t be pursuing his services and now it looks like it has been confirmed, with a large number of under 21’s players getting the nod ahead of him.

Although he may have seemed like a good option to have in Rowett’s squad, after watching him closely, it was clear to see that the Dutch defender was never really going to be an option for us and if he was brought in, it would literally be as cover and nothing else.

Playing at left-back, Tiendalli failed to shine really, with players, even from the lower leagues, quickly realising that he was predominantly right-footed meaning if players pushed him onto his left, he would them become uncomfortable on the ball.

Blues were seen to be doing the 30-year-old a favour, as was he for us, and now it looks like that favour has run out, so despite playing two games in a Birmingham City shirt, it doesn’t look like we will be seeing Tiendalli any time in the near future.

Blues fans, are you disappointed that we didn’t sign Dwight Tiendalli? Or do you think there are better options out there for us? Let us know in the comment section down below!
