Time for The Brock Show

Clayton Donaldson may be ‘undroppable` (Gary Rowett`s words – not mine) but he isn`t always available. His recent call up to the Jamaica squad means he could miss Blues` home fixture against Charlton Athletic.

Yesterday`s news that Rowett could dip into the market for an emergency loan was met with mixed reaction. Many Blues fans feel Nicolai Brock-Madsen deserves a chance; after all, Rowett opted to pay a reported £500,000 fee for Dane.

It is fair to say that the six-foot-three striker has waited patiently and deserves a chance to show what he can do. But playing him means Blues may have to set-up to play a different brand of football.

Donaldson is all about work ethic, winning the ball, holding it up and playing others in, Brock-Madsen is a different kettle of fish who will rely on the early ball into the box to utilise his strength and aerial ability.

While this may suit players like David Cotterill and Demarai Gray, players such as Stephen Gleeson and Maikel Kieftenbeld may have to adapt to accommodate the overlapping full-backs.

If indeed Donaldson is unavailable, it`ll be very interesting to see Rowett reveal his plan B.
