With Blues’ lack of firepower threatening to be their downfall once again, it’s time for Clayton Donaldson to stand up and be counted.

The Jamaican international has finished the last two seasons as the club’s top goal scorer with 16 and 11 respectively. However, it has been his tendency to squander chances that has become a talking point in the stands.

There’s no doubt that the 32 year-old’s work rate and endeavour are vital to the way Blues play. However, the time has come for Donaldson to prove his worth in front of goal.

Last season’s total of 11 should have been closer to 21 given the chances that came Donaldson’s way.

The supporters have started to question his role in the team which is a crying shame considering his work ethic and all of the positive things he bring to the side. But a strikers main job is to score goals.

With Jack Storer emerging into the picture, James Vaughan finally breaking his Blues duck and Rowett looking to bring in a striker, Donaldson has a massive point to prove.
