Following yesterdays (28th) article about why the price tag given to Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw shouldn’t put us off making a move for the 24-year-old, I thought it would be right to highlight three other players that Blues should look to spend some money on this summer.

Now I immediately know what you are all thinking, we don’t have a lot of money to spend so why identify three players that you want us to sign? Well, although we don’t have much money to spend, I do think we will have a small transfer budget and if we use it wisely, I think there are some fantastic players that could become available to us.

It has been quite difficult to search through clubs and find players who I think could improve the squad that we have at the moment for a minimal fee but I believe that I have found three who could potentially make St.Andrews their new home this summer, with one familiar face popping into contention.

1. JON TORAL.

Oh yes! The 21-year-old Spanish playmaker is back on the hitlist and I think if things don’t work out for him at Arsenal this preseason, we could see him wearing a Birmingham City shirt once again in the 2016/17 Championship campaign.

His transfer fee would be well within Blues’ price range with the Gunners valuing him at a figure believed to be in the region of £1 million, a number which isn’t completely out of reach for us if you ask me.

The former Barcelona academy player knows the club well, he enjoyed last season with us, finishing second top goal scorer with eight goals in all competitions, and I think if he was given the chance to come back to B9 then he most certainly would jump at the chance.

However, if a move for the youngster was to materialise then I believe that Andrew Shinnie, who had a disappointing loan spell with Rotherham United last season, could be on his way out of club for good.

2. LUKAS JUTKIEWICZ.

The Burnley striker had a very disappointing season for the Clarets last term and I have no doubt that the 27-year-old striker will be looking for a way out of the club even though they are now in the Premier League.

Despite being a reputable goal scorer in the second tier of English football, Jutkiewicz only made six appearances in the whole of the 2015/16 season which suggests to me that Burnley manager Sean Dyche has absolutely no plans for him whatsoever and I think he would be willing to part ways with him if the price was right.

According to transfermarkt.co.uk, the former Middlesbrough forward is worth around £750,000 and I think if Blues were to offer the Championship winners around £500,000 for his services then I think he would find himself playing football in Birmingham next season.

For me, if nobody in the Championship takes a gamble on him in the summer then they are stupid because he has all the experience and he can offer teams an awful lot in front of goal.

3. TOKELO RANTIE.

Yet another striker who had a very frustrating year for their club but somebody who given a boost of confidence could make all the difference to whether a side performs well in front of goal or whether they don’t score goals at all.

Last season, the striker, aged 25, only made six appearances in all competitions, including Bournemouth’s 2-1 win over Blues in the third round of the FA Cup. On the day he looked capable of playing against opposition of Blues’ standard and for that reason I think he somebody we should be pursuing this summer.

Again, transfermarkt.co.uk are valuing him at around £775,000 so if Blues were to offer in the region of £500,000 then I think we could prize him away from the Cherries and maybe he could end up being our cherry on top of the cake.

To prove that he can do it in the Championship, the season Bournemouth got promoted, he played 12 times, scoring two goals, both of which came against us, but during those 12 games, he only tasted defeat three times and he was part of a team that scored 35 goals throughout that spell of games.

Personally, if I had to pick a player out of the three that I have mentioned, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jutkiewicz sign for us in the summer because I think he would give us something different up front but Toral is obviously a big pull because we all know what to expect from him.

Blues fans, out of the three players that have been mentioned, which one would you like to see us splash some money on this summer? Let us know in the comment section down below!
