It has been no secret of Harry Redknapp’s that he has been very disappointed with the lack of transfer activity at Birmingham City so far this summer.

With several moves failing at the last hurdle, including Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, it is clear to see that Redknapp is becoming more and more deflated by the fact that the club aren’t being able to get deals done for the players that he wants.

Blues fans have been sharing the same frustrations that Redknapp has and with just four new signings this summer, many are starting to question whether the club will be able to bring anyone else in.

From what is currently in the media at the moment, Blues are still in talks with a number of targets, including Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah and Middlesbrough’s Stewart Downing.

However, with both of those likely to cost a pretty penny, it got me thinking, who could Blues possibly sign on a free transfer before the window shuts in two weeks time.

Well, after some digging, here are the three players who I think could interest Redknapp…

1. Ismail Aissati.

The former Ajax, Vitesse and FC Twente player can in a variety of positions, something which Redknapp may take into consideration if he were to look at the 29-year-old.

His three predominant positions are left wing, right wing and central attacking midfield, all roles that Blues need to strengthen in which makes Aissati and ideal candidate for a free transfer.

With plenty of experience under his belt, having played in the top flight in Holland for five years, I feel as though Aissati could well prove to be a shrewd piece of business if Redknapp were to sign him.

2. Samu Garcia.

At 27, Garcia is the youngest of the free agents that I think could interest Redknapp if he were to look at the free transfer pool.

The right winger can also play through the middle in the number ten role where Che Adams has been operating for the last year or so, so it would give him a little bit of competition as well, or give him the chance to push further on.

Formerly of Malaga and Villarreal, the Spaniard has plenty of experience and he also knows just what it takes to play in a big league having played in both La Liga and the Russian League with Rubin Kazan.

For me, I feel like Garcia would be perfect for Blues in the current market, with options becoming more and more limited by the day.

3. Cheick Diabate.

Birmingham City have been desperate for a striker and despite bringing in Luton Town forward Isaac Vassell, they still need to add more fire power to the squad.

29-year-old Diabate could well be the man to add that fire power to the Blues squad.

The free agent once again has plenty of experience of playing in a very developed league having spent four years in the top flight in France with Bordeaux and AS Nancy.

The Mali international would provide both Clayton Donaldson and Lukas Jutkiewicz with further competition for places and I feel as though he should be somebody that Redknapp looks at, and not as a last resort either.
