Wes Thomas has been speaking to the Birmingham Mail about why he feels ready for this season; Lee Clark`s options and his persistent goal against Kidderminster.

The former Rotherham player said he is more mature as a player and has naturally improved as he has progressed through his career. Thomas is more settled now he is a Birmingham player and not on loan like his previous spell.

Last time he was here he struggled to get up to match speed as he wasn`t playing at Bournemouth. This year though he has a preseason under his belt and feels he is better suited to Blues.

“Now I`ve been here since pre-season and I have worked hard. Hopefully I can show people what I am truly about.”

The striker feels this time around Lee Clark will have lots of options, including a few formations and tactics. With those options will come tough decisions, says Thomas.

Competition for places is heating up and Wes explained the team are willing to push each other for a spot.

“We have been working hard pre-season and all that work is coming out in the games now – that was another good win on Saturday.”

Wes Thomas will be hoping to do what he did against Kidderminster plenty of times this season, outpacing his opponents to get in behind and score plenty of goals.
