Third time lucky for Blues winger Jacques Maghoma

Birmingham City head into this weekend’s game against local rivals Aston Villa under new manager Harry Redknapp and one player will be hoping that this game can produce something the previous two meetings hasn’t.

Winger Jacques Maghoma is the man who will be hoping he can put to bed the previous two games against Villa in which he missed two great chances, one in either game.

In the League Cup game at Villa Park last season, Maghoma was sent through on goal by now Leicester City winger Demarai Gray when Blues were 1-0 down but he scuffed his shot straight at Brad Guzan and unfortunately for Gary Rowett and Blues, Villa walked away with a 1-0 win and progressed into the next round.

Then, earlier this season when we played the Claret and Blues at St.Andrews, Maghoma stole the ball of Villa’s right back Alan Hutton and he raced through on goal but once again he choked.

He was clean through on goal with nobody around him but because he hesitated, Hutton was able to get back and put in a block and Maghoma once again missed his chance to score against Aston Villa.

Well, on Sunday, should he be selected, Maghoma has the chance to change his own fortunes and Blues’ as well.

Manager Redknapp will obviously put his own twist on the team so we could see a few changes to the one that lost 0-2 at home to Burton Albion on Monday afternoon and Maghoma could be one of the players making a return to the starting line up.

As well as some changes to who starts, I also believe that Redknapp will change the formation which could see the return of a flat back four and maybe even wingers.

I am hoping that Maghoma does get the chance to put things right on Sunday because with a little bit more belief in him I believe he will finally score the goal he deserves against Villa.

Blues fans, do you think it will be third time lucky for Jacques Maghoma this weekend in the game against Aston Villa? Let us know in the comment section down below!
