The Three Pointer Vs. Norwich

Overview

Birmingham City return to action following a two week international break as they head to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City tomorrow afternoon.

The Canaries have the same amount of points as Blues after their opening five fixtures, but are below Harry Redknapp’s side due to their worse goal difference.

And that’s what jumps straight out about their start to the season – they’ve conceded 12 goals already, the most in the division.

Daniel Farke is still adapting to the Championship but, after their 4-0 hammering at Millwall, they are definitely there for the taking.

Despite our indifferent start, there’s plenty of excitement around the club after Redknapp’s superb business in the transfer window.

Approach

We could see debuts for the likes of record signing Jota, his former Brentford teammates Harlee Dean and Maxime Colin as well as Chelsea loanee Jeremie Boga – now there’s something to look forward to.

I expect Redknapp to continue with his five-at-the-back approach, even with his array of attacking options.

How he fits them all in will be anyone’s guess but we’re certainly going to pose more of a threat than we have in our last few games.

I for one can’t wait to see how the new look team shapes up, however it’s quite hard to predict how we’ll approach this game given the number of changes since the last game.

Exploit

Norwich are fragile at the back and Blues could take advantage of that, there’s no doubt about it.

In fact, I’d go as far as saying that this could be the perfect type of game for us to go into with the new players.

We’re very much an unknown quantity and I think we can look to catch them out with Boga and Jota running off Sam Gallagher.

For any team, it’s going to be so hard to cope with the movement of our attacking players, so plenty of interchange and unpredictable play on the break could be the key.

Josh Murphy, Wes Hoolahan, Nelson Oliveira and James Maddison will all cause problems for Blues, but I just feel that their fragile defence could give us a way into winning this game.
