‘The Rifle’ Walter Pandiani looks set to be shooting back to Spain after Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre claimed his transfer was ‘practically a done deal’.

His £1 million transfer looks set to be completed tomorrow, with Blues looking to sell the striker, who cost £3 million just six months ago, in order to free up some funds.

Two Espanyol board members are reported to have flown to Birmingham to tie up the deal, which Blues have negotiated up from the original £750,000 which the La Liga side offered.

The striker looks set to leave despite co-owner David Sullivan praising the striker’s commitment to the club.

‘You’ve got to take your hat off to his commitment to the club,’ he told the Birmingham Mail. ‘He’s a very decent fellow and his attitude is a credit to himself, his family and his country.’

Whilst Pandiani has seemed a decent squad player at Blues, he has struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premiership. Although Blues are making a huge loss on the player, if an adequate replacement (hopefully not Jason Euell) is found with the money, then the deal will be a good one.
