‘The next Modric’, ‘massive’: These Birmingham fans contain their excitement over latest rumour

|

Well, this came out of nowhere.

The Blues could be in the process of completing arguably one of the biggest transfers the club has had for a while.

Reports suggest that Birmingham City have pulled off a fantastic swoop by agreeing to a deal for Dinamo Zagreb’s Croatian U21 midfielder Ivan Sunjic. The deal is reported to be in the region of €7m (£6.15m) and includes a 30% sell-on fee, obviously they think there’s a huge star in the making and they want a piece of that pie further down the road.

The cost of the deal has certainly raised a few eyebrows amongst Birmingham City fans about how this will work under the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Having been docked points only last season as punishment for breaking FFP rules when Harry Redknapp was in charge, I’d be concerned too.

However, a lot of other fans were willing to overlook any negativity on the matter and focus on what a fantastic player they could be about to get. Some of them though may have gone a little bit too far in their assumptions about how good he can be.
