The money is there but why aren’t Blues coughing up?

Earlier today (August 1st), it was revealed that Birmingham City had had another cash offered rejected for one of their targets.

This time round, Scottish side Dundee have turned down an offer in the region of £300,000 for one of their prized assets, Greg Stewart.

Despite the bid being rejected, it is believed that Blues will go back in with a second offer of around £375,000 plus add-ons which is the figure that Dundee are supposedly looking for.

Last week, Blues saw their efforts rebuffed once again for Sheffield United youngster Che Adams, with the second bid believed to be around £1.7 million.

It is clear that the club are willing to pay the money for players and that the money is there to be spent but that then asks the question, why aren’t we meeting players valuations straight away? Why are we trying to get them at a better price?

Yes, it may seem logical to try and prize players away from their current teams for less than they are valued at but instead of pussyfooting around teams trying to get the most out of a deal, just cough up what they are asking for if Gary Rowett desperately wants them in his team.

During his press conference after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Dutch side Roda JC, Rowett admitted that Stewart was somebody that they were aware of and that he was someone who they had been watching, and the same goes for Adams, so it is clear that he wants those two players in his squad as quickly as possible.

With that being the case, I am sure I am with many fans here who are just metaphorically shouting at the club to pay whatever money is needed to bring those two bodies into the building.

20-year-old Adams is valued at £2 million, go and pay it! Stewart, a winger-come-striker, is valued at £375,000 as mentioned earlier, so go and bloody pay it!

It is not like we are breaking the bank compared to what other people are paying in the division and if those deals can get over the line, I think Blues will have a better chance to compete next season.

Blues fans, do you think either deal could be complete before Saturday’s opener against Cardiff City? Would you pay the money for both players? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
