The Leeds Storm

You could say that Leeds are going through a bit of turmoil themselves this season after sacking David Hockaday just 70 days after his reign began.

Leeds fans didn’t give the inexperienced manager much of a chance as it seems he was always on borrowed time. The manager was taken on despite a lack of profile and experience, something football fans national wide rarely accept.

Simply being able to do the job well isn’t enough for supporters, and rightly so. You have to earn your stripes, taking control of big clubs with lots of fans also should act as recognition for past achievements. Without this part of the process, fans often default to the side against the incumbent.

Leeds’ tactics have been a problem under Hockaday. For example they sat back against Brighton, allowing them to pass their way to a 2-0 victory.

Substitutions also didn’t come when they were needed. Against Bradford City Leeds’ players were running out of steam and remained on the field. Even when they got a goal back into the game, changes were not made to capitalise.

The players at the club also have a poor disciplinary record at the moment. Murphy in particularly received a red card for a ridiculous incident.

It appears that everything that could be going wrong for Leeds has gone wrong for them. But the club have done something about it, they have recruited new players (as we covered here) and are in the search for a new manager to turn things around.
