The Harry Redknapp era – Expect the unexpected

Following the news that caught pretty much everyone off guard on Tuesday evening with the announcement that David Stockdale had signed a three-year-deal with Birmingham City, now is the time to realise that we have to expect the unexpected under manager Harry Redknapp.

And do you know what, I absolutely love it!

The uncertainty and mist around the fact that we probably won’t know what is going to happen next season or who we are going to sign this summer is something that actually quite excites me.

I don’t know about you but I love the buzz that Blues give me when something completely unexpected happens, like yesterday when the news came through that we were going to sign Stockdale.

To other clubs he may not seem like a fantastic signing but for a goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the Championship last season to choose a club with three keepers who are all ready to play in this division clearly shows just how much ambition he has and the pull that Redknapp has as well.

This signing has proven to us that Redknapp is ready to surprise us all with the unexpected and I think this sort of thing will continue to happen throughout the course of the transfer window.

Blues have been linked with a whole host of names since the end of the season but Stockdale, who recently won promotion to the Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion, had never been mentioned until half an hour before the move was announced.

This leads me to believe that Redknapp could well be looking at players that none of us have even considered to think about.

Granted he may well go for some of the targets that have been mentioned like Grant Hanley of Newcastle United or Marc Roberts of Barnsley or he could well go for players from the Premier League or further a field that we would never consider.

These times are very exciting and with money to spend, who knows what Harry could be planning, all we know is that we’ve warned you…

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!
