Gianfranco Zola has been in charge of Blues for nearly a month now and it’s clear that he’s trying to change the style of play into a more possession based approach.

We knew this change would take time with the players we have but it`s also important that we adapt in different situations.

I know Zola`s objective will be to win football matches in the way he wants us to play but, in certain games, Blues will need to be gritty and grind out results.

We did this very well under Gary Rowett and, even though times are changing at St Andrews, I think that this team has an identity and some traits we have could still be crucial to us.

You aren’t going to be able to win pretty every game and, with our recent run of form not being great, we will take a win however it may come.

The beautiful football will eventually start to take control at Blues but, whilst we continue to work on that, we still need to be able to grind out wins, doing anything to win those three points.

A victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday will kickstart the Zola era and, as a result, confidence will rise, allowing us to play his way a lot easier.

The players seem to be taking on board what the manager is looking to get out of them which is promising so it’s just a case of getting that first win under the belt.
