The emergency loan window…

After a highly successful January transfer window where Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett admitted that he was very happy with the deals he had done, I wanted to take a look at what might possibly happen when the emergency loan window opens.

To start you off with the facts, the loan window opens on Tuesday the 9th of February, and it shuts on the 24th of March.

Despite bringing four very good players in last month, Rowett did let slip that there was money left in his budget for him to dive into the loan market but only if he felt the need to.

For me, at the moment I would personally like to see another central midfielder brought in. I know there is plenty available from within the youth ranks like Charlee Adams and Reece Brown but another senior member in the squad wouldn’t hurt.

There are a few players that Blues could look to bring in from the Premier League because I think it could be difficult to bring anyone in from the Championship, but I have also highlighted a player who I think could interest Rowett.

A former player is the first one I would like to see back at St.Andrews and that man is Jordan Mutch.

The 24 year old has been in and out of the Crystal Palace team all season and he has racked up 16 appearances for them this term, but what’s to stop Alan Pardew sending him out on loan.

If game time is something that he wants I am sure Birmingham City would offer him a route back into playing and I would love to see him back in B9.

Next up, I think a good addition to the side would be Manu Garcia from Manchester City.

Last month, Vital Birmingham writer Luke Turner highlighted the 18 year old Spanish midfielder as somebody he would like to see come into the club and I couldn’t agree more with him.

He is a very talented teenager but I am slightly contradicting myself here because I said no to our youth players. But, and this is a big but, Garcia could improve the teams goal tally quite considerably.

At the moment, despite a few 3-0 wins, goals aren’t exactly something that are flowing through the team and the Spaniards creative spark could be something that our own youngsters just won’t be able to offer.

The final top flight player that I think could be a very good addition for us is Arsenal midfielder Mohamed El Nenny.

Now a lot of fans are probably reading this and going, never in a million years would this happen and you are all probably right, this will never happen.

However, recently, the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger was quoted saying that the £5 million January signing wasn’t ready for Premier League football yet and that he needs experience.

Well, my thinking behind this one is, why doesn’t he come in on loan for six months, get games under his belt in an arguably more physical league, and then head back a better player?

Arsenal can see how well Jon Toral has progressed at the club so why not send another fairly youngish player to Blues and let us help him progress, after all, we do have a good track record with Arsenal youngsters, with previous players including Seb Larsson and Nicklas Bendtner.

Moving away from the Premier League, one Championship player that I feel could improve Blues is Ipswich Town man Kevin Bru.

The Frenchman has recently signed a new long term deal with the Tractor boys but he has only played 16 games all season which could mean that he is open to a loan move away from the play-off chasing side.

Although he doesn’t really have many goals in his game, the 27 year old could inject that little something extra that Blues need to get the over the line.

Blues fans, what do you make of the four suggestions that I have made in regards to the upcoming emergency loan window? Let us know in the comment section down below which player you think would most improve Birmingham City!
