Birmingham City have announced that they will be facing Premier League side Leicester City in a preseason fixture that is due to take place on the 1st of August.

Ticket details for the fixture are yet to be announced with the club stating that they will be released in due course.

The fixture against the Foxes is the fourth game that the first team squad will take place in as they also take on Kidderminster Harries, Northampton Town and Burton Albion, with the latter being Gary Rowett’s old side.

Having played Inverness in their only preseason home game last season, the game against local rivals Leicester City is a bit of a coop and shows just how well Rowett and his team have done because now they are attracting the likes of bigger opposition.

Coming back to St.Andrews with Leicester will be former striker Kevin Phillips who is now part of Nigel Pearson’s backroom staff. After a good string of results in recent weeks, Leicester confirmed their status in the Premier League for another year with a 0-0 draw at the weekend against Sunderland.
