The Birmingham City January wishlist

Now before I go any further, I know what everyone is thinking…why on earth is he talking about the January transfer window when we haven’t even got out of November yet.

Well, the fact is, Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett will have probably had his eye on players from the very start of September that he wants to bring in in January so why can’t we fantasise about who we would like to see come into the club.

It is quite clear that Rowett knows what he wants to bring into the club and that it won’t be the ‘eight to ten’ players that the new owners originally quoted.

So, in light of the thought that Blues will more than likely bring in three or four players, down below are three players who I would like to see wearing a royal blue shirt from January.

1. LUKAS JUTKIEWICZ – BURNLEY.

Quite an obvious one to get us up and running. The on loan Clarets striker has made a really good impression since joining the club on deadline day and I think if any Blues fan says they don’t want him to sign on a permanent contract in January then they have something wrong with them.

The 27-year-old forward has scored five goals in 11 appearances for Rowett’s men so far this season and should he continue that sort of form, he could be on for around 20 goals at the end of the campaign which would prove once again that Rowett has fished out a bargain from the transfer pool.

Despite the recent interest from fellow Championship side Derby County, as reported on Sky Sports, the Southampton-born man mountain has made it pretty clear that he would like to extend his stay at St.Andrews which is music to many Blues fans ears.

2. JOSH ONOMAH – TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR.

The 19-year-old winger can play on either side and with chances being very limited for him in the first team at Spurs, a move away from the club into the second tier of English football might be exactly what he is looking for.

Although the move wouldn’t be a permanent one, like Jutkiewiczs’, a six-month deal which could potentially be extended at the end of the season would be something that I believe the club would consider looking at.

How willing would Spurs be to let the teenager go? I am not so sure but surely the development of one of their best young talents would be furthered if he went out on loan and a move to B9 might be exactly what he is looking for.

3. JON TORAL- ARSENAL (ON LOAN AT GRANADA).

How on earth could I miss this wonderful man out! He is in my opinion somebody who we have missed greatly at this club and if we managed to sign him in January, I think there would certainly be a few more bums on seats for the second half of the season at St.Andrews.

When Toral was with the club last season it was very clear that he was a favourite amongst the fans and the players and with his loan spell in Spain being deemed a complete failure, I am sure if the club approached to buy him off the Gunners then they would quite happily take the money that was on offer.

If Rowett wants to make on marquee signing in January, I think Toral would be the top of many fans lists including my own.

His touch and finesse in the number 10 role is something that I personally feel we have been missing a little bit this season and if he came back in I think we would see a real change to the side, and a good change it would be.

Blues fans, what do you make of the three players on our January wishlist? Are they players you would like to see the club sign? Let us know in the comment section down below!
