Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has confirmed Martin Taylor will be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in next month – and named QPR as one of the interested clubs.

The centre-half recently returned from his month-long loan spell at Norwich – where he won the Player of the Month award from November – to discover he was surplus to requirements at St Andrews.

However, his string of impressive performances in the Championship has reportedly attracted the attention of a string of clubs, meaning Taylor, who has made just one appearance for the Blues this season, is unlikely to be languishing on the sidelines for long.

McLeish was quoted in the Evening Standard as saying: “I have spoken to Martin and he is down the pecking order. I have said if the right club comes in for him, it will be time for him to move on.

“He has done well for Norwich and helped them climb off the bottom of the Championship with his performances for them. I think there are one or two clubs interested in Martin who is weighing them up. I believe QPR are in the hunt.”

Queens Park Rangers are now backed by Formula One money in the shape of Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore but are suffering from something of a drab season and Taylor could be the player they need to help them climb up the table.
