Takeover Bus Slowly Moving

Take over. The words every Birmingham City fan longs to hear. For so long now, the club have been dragged backwards by the parent company who have had well documented troubles of their own. But since the receivers, Ernst & Young, were called in to steady the ship, things have slowly progressed.

Ernst & Young`s website claims ‘EY provides global services to help you retain the confidence of investors, manage your risk, strengthen your controls and achieve your potential’. That all sounds promising, but what does it mean for Birmingham City?

Well, first and foremost, EY were called in by the Board of Birmingham International Holdings Limited for a variety of reasons including putting a stop to the boardroom politics going on in Hong Kong. The receivers now look to balance the books and attract investment or new owners.

Yesterday, it was announced that Trillion Trophy have been given a two-year ‘exclusivity` period in their attempt to take over the club. This means they will be the only party who can take over the club until either a deal is reached or they decide to pull out. Now, I am no financial expert, but this seems like an unusually long period for that kind of agreement.

The situation has been met with some confusion amongst Blues fans, myself included, who want to know details. So far, I have no clue who Trillion Trophy are. Like every Blues fan, I also want to know what their intentions for the club are.

This whole saga has dragged on for too long and has ripped the heart out of the club we love. But we can all take comfort in the fact that at least something is happening. The bus is moving, slowly but surely.
