Birmingham City play hosts to the League Cup holders tonight at St Andrews and Swansea won’t be willing to let go of their prize for last season just yet.

The bad news for Blues fans is that Saturday’s hero Jesse Lingard will not be allowed to play as his parent club United will not want him cup tied as he is only here for a month at this moment in time.

Also out is Kyle Bartley who is on loan from tonight’s opponents Swansea so he will also not be allowed to play.

Back in goal will be Colin Doyle who has played in the previous two rounds, but being rested will be David Murphy who only returned to first team action on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday.

Nikola Zigic, Akwasi Asante, Lee Novak and Hayden Mullins all miss out due to injuries.

As for Swansea, Neil Taylor will make his return from a thigh injury but Ashley Williams and Pablo Hernandez are not likely to play any part.

Left-back Taylor has been on the sidelines since suffering a dead leg in the first leg of the Europa League play-off against Petrolul Ploiesti in August.

Captain Williams has an ankle injury and winger Hernandez is suffering with a hamstring problem.
