Word On The Tweet

‘Surprised’, ‘wouldn’t hurt’: Some Blues fans can’t take their eyes off one man after club tweet

It might seem a minor thing, but as the reaction shows, there’s plenty to talk about when it happens.

The Blues released their official club photo today, showcasing the squad ahead of the upcoming season. Although they may need to do a couple of retakes if last night’s news is anything to go by, perhaps that was why it took so long to post the picture, they had to wait for Lakin to go out the door.

The biggest takeaway from squad pictures is that it gives you a chance to spot players that you thought had been and gone, as was the case with these two fans.

However, there was one thing that caught a lot of fans attention, and it wasn’t one of the players.

In fact, it was first-team coach James Beattie. Beattie followed ex-Blues boss Garry Monk through his managerial career, having first joined up with him at Swansea City, then making the moves to Leeds United and Middlesbrough, before finally ending up in B9 when Monk took charge back in 2018. Perhaps he’s just missing Monk having been together for so long, but he didn’t seem to be too thrilled to be here.

But much like Grounds and Keita, it seemed a lot of people forgot that the former England man was even part of the setup at all.
