Birmingham City have announced that the loan of Sunderland winger Will Buckley has been extended until the end of the season.

Originally, the former Brighton and Hove Albion man was due to stay at St.Andrews until the 11th of February but Blues boss Gary Rowett has opted to extend his deal.

So far during his short time with the Blues, Buckley has made two appearances, scoring in his last against Ipswich Town in an impressive 3-0 win.

Sunderland still have Buckley under contract until the summer of 2017 so it still remains unclear as to whether or not Rowett will make a move for the 26 year old in the summer.

Buckley made the move to Sunderland in August 2014 for a reported £2.5 million but he failed to make the impression that he was hoping for.

Earlier this season, Buckley spent time out on loan at Leeds United but he suffered a similar fate in that he didn’t make the impact he wanted to make.
