Blues new assistant manager has been talking to the Birmingham Mail about how Gary Rowett’s team talks will benefit the club.

Rowett is known for keeping it short and to the point. His coaching staff are certainly a fan of the way he does things, and by current affairs it seems to be getting a response from the players.

“The players are the most important thing that you have to turn to as quickly as you can.

“And one of Gary`s really strong points is the way he will deal with players, team talks.

“He will keep it simple, but it will always have a punch about it, a meaning towards the end.

“I think they can relate to that. And, from the early signs, we have been delighted with how the players have responded.

“We don`t go over the top. It is more about throwing the onus on the players, giving them a platform, to say ‘OK, can you play well in that system? Can you try and do what we are asking?”

It would seem that there is more of a confidence about Rowett’s approach to talking to the players. He sets challenges to them rather than trying to our emphasise encouragement, which can at times come across as desperate by managers.

Blues need a good motivator more than ever, someone to galvanise the club and act as a figurehead for the fans to connect with. Which seems to be working really well so far.

So short and sweet seems to be doing the trick for Gary Rowett, his Birmingham team take on Rotherham, this Saturday.
