Another week, another transfer rumour, but one that is a little bit more interesting than the other has beens that have been linked with Birmingham City in the past two weeks.

With the season being nearly a month past its finish point, fans are expecting transfer rumours to continue to fly around and as we enter the final week of May and the first week of June, they show no signs of letting up as Blues have been linked with Celtic striker Anthony Stokes.

The 27-year-old spent the majority of the 2015/16 season on loan at Hibernian, scoring nine goals in 27 appearances, which in my eyes isn’t a fantastic return in the Scottish Championship, but he will go down in their history books for scoring a brace in the Scottish FA Cup win over Rangers.

Speaking to sources close to the club, they believe that Stokes works best in a side when he has a striking partner next to him which is once reason why I am being put off a move for him because Gary Rowett really likes to play with just one striker up front.

For me, if Stokes was to come in then I think he might struggle for us because things haven’t exactly gone well for him in England before so what’s to say they will go well this time round?

Yes I do have faith in Rowett that he can bring the best out of players as we saw last season with loanees Jon Toral and Ryan Shotton, but can he really keep pulling off these miracles if you will? Personally I don’t think he can but never say never.

If the former Sunderland striker was to move back south of the border, Blues would have to pay a transfer fee to bring him in, one which I don’t think would be an awful lot because Celtic are looking to trim their squad and it looks as though Stokes could be one of the first out of the door but could it really work out for him at Blues? I have to say no unfortunately.
