Stockdale’s Replacement? – 40% Of Birmingham Fans Polled Would Like Monk To Recruit Dutchman

|

With Connal Trueman the only keeper in the club’s first team squad, and Garry Monk seemingly reluctant to recall either David Stockdale or Tomasz Kuszczak, some fans on Twitter were deliberating whether a move for Tim Krul could be the answer.

Even without a transfer embargo, the club may be forced to play conservatively in the market due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, and the fact that the Dutchman is available on a free transfer could make him a more attractive option.

Although a small majority thought a move for Krul wouldn’t be a good idea, 40% of the fans that we polled do think the 30-year-old could be a good short-term solution to replace Stockdale in goal:

Personally, I don’t think signing the former Newcastle keeper would be a good idea. Injuries have certainly taken their toll on the ex-Dutch international, and the fact he was offloaded by Brighton just nine months after signing him kind of says it all.

If we can sign players our reported £2.75m offer for Bartosz Bialkowski suggests we won’t be looking in the bargain bin for a new number one. With no news about the embargo and exactly three weeks to go to the transfer deadline, the uncertainty over signing more players this summer is increasing.
