Luke Turner discusses how Rowett is doing the right thing with Greg Stewart…

Scottish winger Greg Stewart has just made one start for Blues since he moved from Dundee in the summer and seven of his eight appearances have come from the bench.

We have seen glimpses of what he is capable of and Gary Rowett has 100% done the right thing by slowly bedding him in to the team which is allowing him to adapt.

Some of the things I have seen him do with the football really have been mesmerising and it`s clear to see that he’s a top player and can make a real impact for us.

In his only start for us, against Preston, he seemed to struggle to get into the game and he didn’t look up to the demands of Championship football.

However, when he has come on from the bench, he has shown just how talented he is and brings an air of unpredictably for the opposition.

When he came on against Huddersfield on the weekend, he once again showed the Blues fans why Rowett signed him.

Along with the ball sticking to his foot and the teasing crosses he sent in, he also looked physically up to the task.

I think this has been the main thing with Stewart, it was always going to take him time to adapt to the Championship.

It’s all good having the ability but you also need to be gritty, determined and be able to show your strength.

We really do have an exciting talent on our hands with Stewart and, if he continues to adapt and work hard, then I don’t think it’ll be long until he earns another start for the club.
