While Steve Cotterill claims his squad ‘isn’t strong enough’, spare a thought for the players he has let go.

The Blues manager said – ‘We’ve had a few injuries and suspensions and it’s thrown us all over the place’.

The manager was quick to push David Cotterill, Emilio Nsue and Stephen Gleeson towards the exit door – players who could have eased the burden, bulked the coffers, at least until the the end of the season.

Cotterill reckons that the club will be in the same situation ‘in a months time’ regardless of whether he is the manager.

Maybe so. But at least we may get a slight suggestion of attacking football – a manager setting his team up to win games rather than not to lose. And an honest assessment after a defeat wouldn’t go amiss either…
