Stepping up the search

Despite already bringing in three new players this summer, Harry Redknapp looks to be stepping up his hunt for further acquisitions to his Blues squad.

He’s hinted that up to six new players could come through the St. Andrew`s door before the window slams shut and we`re seeing plenty of names linked with the club this week.

The likes of Stewart Downing, Tommy Elphick, Ashley Cole, Mitchell Dijks, Aaron Lennon and Jordan Hugill are all supposed targets for Redknapp with deals for one or two of them looking like they’re gathering pace.

With the start of the new season edging ever closer, it’s clear that Blues are trying extremely hard to get some more deals over the line.

We saw it reported yesterday that Blues were looking to tie up a quick deal for Elphick and a bid for Hugill is said to have been rejected today.

To add to that, it looks like a deal to bring Downing to St. Andrew`s could be completed as soon as tomorrow (or even later today at a push).

From now onwards, it`s likely to be a very busy period with players coming through the door but also out of it.

Redknapp obviously isn’t content with the quality of his squad and as players join the club, others will find themselves surplus to requirements.

Blues are making moves and Harry certainly isn’t in any mind to mess around.
